Rick Becker is a husband, father of seven, and a dedicated educator who finds deep purpose in accompanying students as they discover their potential as future healthcare workers. His professional journey has always revolved around education, as a religious educator and as an oncology and hospice nurse.  Once he entered the field of nursing, he would strive to be the instructor he had always wanted or looked forward to when he was a nursing student.

What is a Courage Champion in my world?

Since I work closely with nursing students just starting their careers, I work hard to alleviate their understandable anxieties and boost their confidence that they truly can succeed in this demanding field.

Why it matters:

The mantra “Show up. Be open. Be brave” is at the heart of nursing education. This message of encouragement is precisely what young future nurses need to hear as they begin their professional journeys.
